My passion for dance started at an early age when I got my first pink boom box for Christmas. I would take it to my driveway and dance for hours putting together routines and making up my own crazy moves not having the slightest idea about what was going on in the world around me.
I was involved in gymnastics for about 14 years, took jazz for 3 years and ballet for 2 years. I started swing dancing 7 years ago and was excited to broaden my dance knowledge into ballroom and Latin. After absorbing so much wonderful dance information I knew that I wanted to share my knowledge and teach people how to dance.
I have been an instructor for 4 years and have received and continue to receive coaching and instruction from the top 10 nationally ranked dance professionals and other nationally ranked dance professionals. I specialize in many different styles of dancing ranging from swing, latin, ballroom, and country western. I teach wedding dances to couples in addition to teaching couples and singles who are just looking to have a good time and get some exercise. With wedding couples I can choreograph your first dance as husband and wife on the special night, choreograph a father and daughter dance, mother and son dance, and a wedding party dance.
For couples just wanting to have fun I can teach you in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere how to loosen up, look good on the dance floor and impress a crowd with as many dances as you would like to learn. This comes in handy when you are out on the town or have an exciting vacation coming up.
Being an instructor has opened up a new dance world to me. Nothing is more exciting than teaching people how to express and find themselves through dance. I work with happy excited people all day who just want to soak in as much dance information as they can before their hour lesson ends. You can't ask for a better job. By the time a person or couple is on their 5th lesson you can tell that it's started to click and they are thinking about it less and enjoying it more. All they can do now is have fun with it. The most rewarding part of being an instructor is teaching my wedding couples their first dance. Working with them from day one as they stumble over each others feet and then being invited to their wedding to watch them perform in front of everyone like they have been dancing together for years and they own the floor. I cry every time.
Being an instructor will always be a part of me and I will continue making it a part of others lives for as long as I can. I will continue learning more and more about partnership dancing so that I can continue sharing my new knowledge with others.
